Plane Mirrors (Passive Reflector or Tilted Mirror)
Plane mirrors within a CO2 laser system resonator are often known as internal mirrors or passive reflectors. Outside of the resonator, these mirrors are used to direct the laser light towards the machine’s working area (beam guidance).
Generally, these mirrors are manufactured from silicon or copper whereby, copper with its higher heat conductivity, possesses the greatest form stability particularly when combined with water cooling. Both silicon and copper mirrors are nearly always finished with a highly reflective coating.
